superior autobiographical memory

While searching for some recent science news, I happened upon this recentĀ 60 Minutes episode where they investigate “superior autobiographical memory.” How refreshing to hear the researching professor of neurobiology confess, “We think we knew a lot, and all of a sudden these people come and display a kind of memory we’ve never seen before…” In the last half of the program, one of the researchers comments, “Why are we normal, and they are considered the unusual ones? Why didn’t we evolve such that most of us are like them…?” Well I’m not an evolutionist, so my question is, would we all (still) be like this if Eve hadn’t taken that bite…
