My daughter, Charlotte and I were finally able to use our Groupon for a cooking class at Cook au Vin. I think I purchased the Groupon last spring, so we were nearing the expiration date.
I’m not sure why I find cooking classes so much fun. There was a time when I first moved to Chicago, that I searched for all possible options for taking such classes. I really wanted to attend culinary school, but that appeared impossible. So, the next best thing seemed to be taking one class at a time – maybe once a month – until I learned everything I wanted.
But it’s not just the food that I love. There is something about working together with others on a project like dinner that promotes easy conversation and camaraderie with complete strangers. Maybe its that we are all starting from a humble position of coming to learn. Or maybe its that we all care about food.
Whatever the reason, I highly recommend it! Following is the menu we prepared for our class and a couple of pictures:
